Workshop in detail
Grab a shaker and take your place at your own cocktail station at Spirited Union, the Amsterdam distillery behind the first botanical rum. Before anything is shaken, you head behind the scenes on a tour of the distillery and see how spirits, botanicals and flavour come together in a hands-on process.
Then comes the rum itself. A good cocktail starts with knowing its main ingredient, so your bar trainer guides you through a tasting of the botanical rum you will be mixing with.
Then it is your turn. A professional bartender teaches you the techniques and flavour combinations behind three different cocktails, which you shake and drink as you go. Between rounds there is time to talk with your friends or colleagues, and to ask the bartender anything about spirits, cocktails or botanical rum.
You will leave with three cocktails' worth of technique, and with the know-how to shake them again at home.

Good to know
- The workshop runs every Friday from 19:00 to 20:30 and every Saturday from 18:00 to 19:30.
- It lasts 1.5 hours and includes the distillery tour, the rum tasting and three cocktails.
- A non-alcoholic option is available on request.
- The distillery is easy to reach by car and public transport.
- Afterwards, you are welcome to stay for a cocktail on the terrace, or to browse the shop for botanical rums, limited editions and merchandise, with a taste before you buy.
