What you'll leave with
- Your own hand-crafted chocolate bar, made from bean to bar in the workshop
- A tasting of different cacaos and a feel for how chocolate actually gets made
- A look inside the machine room where the beans become chocolate
Workshop in detail
Step inside Wild Child Cacao's chocolate makery in Amsterdam Noord and spend an afternoon with Malou, going from raw bean to finished bar. You taste your way through different chocolates as you go, discovering just how much diversity exists between cacao beans, from the ceremonial grade Malou roasts and stone grinds herself to the varieties you sample along the way. Then you get a look inside the machine room, where raw beans are turned into the chocolate you have been tasting. Cacao has a long history, and Malou walks you through the old ways of working with it, the ceremonial traditions still practised today, and the health benefits behind all that tasting. Then it is your turn to become the chocolatier: you compose your own chocolate bar from the chocolate made that day, guided by Malou but shaped entirely by your own creativity.
