Workshop in detail

Lisa's painting classes are a freestyle creative time where you express yourself on the canvas, bring your ideas to life, and paint something that is entirely your own: a piece for someone you love, or one that suits your interior perfectly, anything you like and want to paint. Lisa guides you through the process with ideas and techniques as you go.

Oil paint is her favourite medium: it offers flexibility and depth of colour, and can be applied in many ways, from thin glazes diluted with turpentine to dense, thick impasto. Because it is slow to dry, you can keep working the paint for much longer than with other mediums. Oil painting is no harder than any other medium: if you have been happy painting with watercolour, pastel, or acrylics, you should expect the same level of difficulty here, and no experience is required.

You start by choosing the size of your canvas, of which Lisa has plenty available in the studio, and deciding on the theme of your work. From there, you move into the creation process, with Lisa guiding you through the colourful journey. Not sure you will finish on time? There is no rush: you can leave your painting in the studio and continue in a future session.
